Salesforce announces Agentforce 360 as enterprise AI competition heats up 

Salesforce has introduced Agentforce 360, an upgraded version of its AI agent platform designed to attract enterprise customers in an increasingly competitive AI market. Announced ahead of its Dreamforce conference, the new platform includes Agent Script, a tool that lets users program agents with flexible “if/then” logic to handle complex or unpredictable situations, and Agentforce Builder, which allows enterprises to build, test, and deploy AI agents in one place. Salesforce has also expanded its integration with Slack, making core apps like Sales, IT, and HR accessible within the messaging platform and transforming Slackbot into a more personalised AI assistant. The agents draw on advanced reasoning models from Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google Gemini, aiming for more thoughtful responses instead of simple pattern matching. Salesforce plans to connect Slack to Gmail, Outlook, and Dropbox by early 2026. With 12,000 customers already using Agentforce, early adopters of the new version include Lennar, Adecco, and Pearson. The launch comes as enterprises face challenges scaling AI tools into production, with a recent MIT study finding 95 percent of pilots fail to reach deployment. Why it matters and how can we adapt to this change:

  1. Salesforce is pushing deeper into enterprise AI: With Agentforce 360, Salesforce is positioning itself not just as a CRM vendor, but as a platform for AI agents that act autonomously across functions. It’s a bet that AI agents will become central to how companies operate.

  2. Integration with existing workflows (Slack, Microsoft tools, etc.) is key: By embedding agents into tools people already use (Slack, email, file systems), Salesforce increases the chances of adoption. It reduces friction of switching between platforms.

  3. More “reasoning” models reduce the brittleness of agents: Traditional agents often fail when they hit edge cases or ambiguous input. Using reasoning models that can plan or think before responding can make agents more robust in real-world settings.

  4. Competition is intensifying in enterprise AI: Google, Anthropic, and others are actively courting enterprise customers. Salesforce needs to match or outpace them. What they release now will influence who becomes the AI agent “platform of choice.”

  5. Bridges the gap between pilot and production: Many companies try AI projects but struggle to scale them. Salesforce is offering tools (builder environment, integrations, agent monitoring) that help scale and operationalise agents—if they can deliver on it, they might reduce failure rates.

Once connected, ChatGPT can also perform actions like playing music, managing your library, and editing playlists. Both free and premium Spotify users can use the feature, but premium users get a more tailored experience. The integration is available in English across 145 countries for ChatGPT Free, Plus, and Pro users on both web and mobile. Spotify assures users that it does not share content for AI training and that they can disconnect their accounts anytime, though it notes privacy considerations such as shared listening data and IP information.
