Reddit CEO says chatbots are not a traffic driver

Reddit CEO Steve Huffman said AI chatbots like ChatGPT and Gemini aren’t a meaningful source of traffic for Reddit, despite the rise of AI search. Speaking during Reddit’s Q3 2025 earnings call, Huffman confirmed that Google search and direct visits remain the main drivers of traffic, with each contributing roughly half. Reddit, which now earns $585 million in quarterly revenue (up 68% year-on-year) and has over 116 million daily users, maintains licensing partnerships with OpenAI and Google but has also taken legal action against Anthropic and Perplexity over data use. The company is integrating AI into its own search system, with 20% of search activity now handled by its AI-powered ā€œAnswersā€ feature, and is testing new onboarding flows to improve early engagement. The collaboration aims to strengthen South Korea’s AI infrastructure, with over 260,000 of Nvidia’s latest GPUs being deployed across public projects and major corporations. Samsung will build an AI mega-factory using Nvidia’s Omniverse platform and co-develop next-generation HBM4 memory, while Hyundai will use 50,000 Blackwell GPUs for autonomous vehicles, robotics, and smart factories.
