PayPal partners with OpenAI to let users pay for their shopping within ChatGPT

PayPal has announced a partnership with OpenAI that will allow users to shop and pay directly within ChatGPT starting in 2026. The integration uses OpenAI’s Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP) and its Instant Checkout feature. This means users can browse, confirm orders, and make purchases without leaving ChatGPT. Using PayPal wallets, customers will enjoy buyer and seller protection, dispute resolution, and the ability to pay with cards through a dedicated payments API. Merchants using PayPal will have their products automatically appear in ChatGPT across categories like fashion, home improvement, and electronics, without needing extra integrations.

PayPal will also launch an Agentic Commerce Suite, letting merchants feature catalogues in AI apps, accept payments, and access insights on consumer behaviour. This aligns with PayPal’s strategy to become the default payments partner for AI-driven shopping, following its previous integrations with Perplexity and Google’s Agent Payments Protocol. In addition, PayPal employees will gain enterprise access to ChatGPT and OpenAI’s Codex tools to improve productivity and development workflows. READ MORE

Pinterest has announced new AI-driven updates to make its boards more personalised and interactive. The platform is introducing two major features: “Styled for you” and “Boards made for you.” Styled for you: This AI-powered collage tool lets users mix and match fashion items from their saved Pins to create new outfit ideas. By tapping on an item, users can explore AI-recommended Pins that suit their style preferences.

Boards made for you: These are curated boards that blend editorial insights with AI recommendations. They include trending looks, weekly outfit ideas, and shoppable posts, appearing on users’ home feeds and inboxes. The features are being tested in the U.S. and Canada, with a broader rollout planned soon.

Pinterest aims to evolve from being a simple visual bookmarking site to an AI-enabled shopping assistant. The company has already incorporated AI into recommendation systems and visual search, and this move continues that strategy.
