Google’s Gemini can now help you schedule Google Calendar meetings
Google has introduced a new Gemini-powered “Help me schedule” tool in Gmail that simplifies arranging one-on-one meetings through Google Calendar. The feature analyses your calendar availability, suggests ideal meeting times, and inserts them directly into your email. Once the recipient selects a time, the event is automatically added to both calendars. Unlike existing tools like Calendly or Doodle, Google’s system uses Gemini’s AI to interpret email context, tailoring suggestions for example, offering 30-minute slots if the message mentions a half-hour meeting. This release is part of Google’s broader push to integrate AI across Workspace apps, alongside updates to Nano Banana for image editing, Gemini in Slides, and AI improvements in Google Vids. The change, expected to roll out in December, follows the company’s new “treat adult users like adults” principle and the introduction of an age-verification system designed to keep these features limited to adults. Altman said the original safety measures were meant to protect vulnerable users dealing with mental health issues, but they also made ChatGPT less engaging for others.
