Google Supports Anthropic Standards and Google MCP is here.

Google is joining OpenAI in supporting Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol (MCP), a rising open standard that connects AI models to real-world data sources like business tools, content repositories, and app environments. This move enables Google’s Gemini models to interact with external data for more dynamic and task-oriented AI applications.

MCP allows developers to build two-way links between apps and data using “MCP clients” and “MCP servers,” helping AI agents perform actions based on real-time data. Since being open-sourced, MCP has gained traction across companies like Block, Replit, and Sourcegraph, signalling broad industry adoption in the AI agent era. READ MORE

• Standardising AI integrations: Google backing MCP helps make it the go-to standard for connecting AI to data. This means easier, more consistent app development.

Google takes on Cursor with Firebase Studio, its AI builder for vibe coding!

Google has launched Firebase Studio, a cloud-based, AI-powered integrated development environment (IDE) that enables users to build full-stack applications using simple prompts, including natural language and images. This move positions Google to compete with the rapidly growing Cursor AI, known for its role in the emerging "vibe coding" trend—coding driven more by creative flow than technical skill. READ MORE
