YouTube has announced a new suite of generative AI tools for Shorts creators, headlined by Veo 3 Fast, a lighter version of Google’s text-to-video model that generates 480p clips with sound at lower latency, now rolling out in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Creators will soon be able to animate still images by transferring motion from videos, apply visual styles like pop art, and insert characters or props through text prompts. A new Speech-to-Song remixing tool, powered by Google’s Lyria 2 music model, will also let users turn dialogue into custom soundtracks with vibes such as “chill” or “danceable.” In addition, YouTube is testing an Edit with AI feature that transforms raw footage into first drafts by selecting highlights, adding transitions, music, and even voice-over in English or Hindi.
