Facebook Group admins complain of mass bans - Meta says it’s fixing the problem

Meta is facing backlash after mass bans hit Facebook Groups, with many admins reporting their communities were wrongly suspended. Thousands of groups across categories like parenting, gaming, pets, and the largest AI groups on Facebook were removed, often with vague or absurd violation notices, including claims of terrorism or nudity. Many of these groups are large, some with millions of members, and had no history of rule-breaking.

Meta acknowledged the issue as a “technical error” and said they are working on a fix. However, users suspect faulty AI moderation is behind the bans. Some admins with Meta’s paid Verified support were able to get help, but most are still in the dark.

Users are now sharing advice not to appeal and to wait for Meta to resolve it. A Reddit community is documenting the issues, and a petition with over 12,000 signatures is circulating. Some businesses affected are even considering legal action. READ MORE

• Small Businesses and Creators Are Affected: Many businesses and creators use Facebook Groups for customer engagement, education, and sales. Sudden bans can lead to lost income, disrupted operations, and damaged reputations.

• AI Moderation Accountability: If faulty AI is the cause, it raises big concerns about how much control automated systems have without proper human oversight. This issue shows the real risks of over-relying on AI for moderation at scale.

• Platform Dependence Risks: The bans highlight how risky it is to build a brand or community entirely on someone else's platform. When Meta has issues, you could lose everything overnight, with no warning or recourse.

• Lack of Transparency and Support: Even paying customers with Verified support aren’t guaranteed help. Meta’s vague responses and delayed action show a lack of transparency, which erodes trust in the platform long-term.

ElevenLabs releases a stand-alone voice-generation app

ElevenLabs has launched a new stand-alone mobile app for iOS and Android that lets users generate voice clips from text on the go. Previously, users had to rely on its web app. The new mobile app supports its latest v3 alpha text-to-speech models, allowing more expressive voice control with tags.

Users can choose voices, generate clips, and use shared credits across both the web and mobile versions. The free plan includes around 10 minutes of voice generation. This release follows demand from creators already using ElevenLabs on mobile browsers with video apps like CapCut and Instagram. READ MORE
