OpenAI’s new image generator is now available to all users and $40B funding round.

OpenAI has made its image generator, powered by the GPT-4o model, available to all users, not just paying subscribers, according to CEO Sam Altman. Free-tier users may be limited to generating three images per day.

The tool saw massive demand after launch, with Altman mentioning their GPUs were struggling to keep up. However, it also attracted controversy for enabling users to mimic Studio Ghibli’s animation style, raising copyright concerns, and for being used to create fake receipts. OpenAI stated that all images carry metadata showing they were AI-generated and the company monitors for guideline violations.

Additionally, OpenAI announced it has raised $40 billion in funding, led by SoftBank, bringing its valuation to $300 billion. ChatGPT now has 500 million weekly active users and 700 million monthly active users. READ MORE

Amazon Launches Nova Act: A Smarter AI Agent for Complex Web Tasks

Amazon has unveiled Nova Act, a new advanced AI model designed to create smarter agents capable of performing multi-step, complex tasks within web browsers. Unlike typical AI agents that mainly retrieve information, Nova Act can complete digital workflows like scheduling meetings, submitting notifications, and even handling IT or business productivity tasks without constant human supervision.

To support developers, Amazon has released a research preview of the Nova Act SDK, allowing them to build agents that automate detailed web tasks using "atomic commands" and advanced browser manipulation tools like Playwright, API integrations, and Python scripting. READ MORE
