Sam Altman addresses ‘bumpy’ GPT-5 rollout, bringing 4o back, and the ‘chart crime

In a Reddit AMA, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman addressed complaints about GPT-5’s rocky rollout, user requests to bring back GPT-4o, and a presentation blunder dubbed the “chart crime.” The main issue was a malfunctioning real-time router, which caused GPT-5 to feel less capable on launch day. Altman confirmed the problem has been fixed and said improvements will make the system better at selecting the right model, with more transparency on which model is responding. He also said OpenAI is considering letting Plus subscribers continue using GPT-4o, will double Plus rate limits during rollout, and will continue gathering feedback. Apple’s new Siri may allow users to operate apps just using voice

Apple is reportedly testing a new version of Siri that can perform actions across multiple apps using voice commands. Powered by an updated App Intents framework, the feature would let users do tasks like searching for a photo, editing it, and sending it, posting on social media, or logging into services, all by voice. Apple is trialling it with apps such as Uber, AllTrails, Threads, Temu, Amazon, YouTube, Facebook, and WhatsApp. While the company showcased an “intelligent Siri” in 2024, it has yet to launch; the overhauled version is expected in spring 2026.
