Apple Intelligence: Everything you need to know about Apple’s AI model and services
Apple Intelligence, introduced in 2024 and expanded at WWDC 2025, is Apple’s integrated AI layer across iOS, macOS, and iPadOS. Rather than launching a standalone chatbot like ChatGPT or Gemini, Apple has focused on weaving AI into everyday apps like Mail, Notes, Messages, and Siri. Features include writing tools, Genmoji (custom emojis), image generation, and a revamped Siri with context awareness. A new Visual Intelligence tool can search based on what’s on your screen, and Live Translation allows real-time conversation translation in Messages, FaceTime, and Phone apps.
Apple Intelligence is free and runs on-device or via Private Cloud Compute, depending on complexity. It’s only available on newer hardware (iPhone 15 Pro and newer, M1 iPads and Macs). Apple also announced its Foundation Models framework, allowing third-party developers to tap into Apple’s AI while maintaining user privacy. ChatGPT integration is included, with users able to opt in for extended capabilities. READ MORE
Why it matters and how can we adapt to this change:
AI Is Now Baked In, Not Bolted On: Apple Intelligence is part of the OS, not a separate tool. Users will expect AI as a default feature across apps and workflows.
Privacy-First AI Is the New Benchmark: On-device processing with optional cloud support raises the bar for privacy. Other platforms will need to follow suit.
Siri Just Became a Real Assistant: Siri can now act across apps, understand context, and connect with ChatGPT. Voice-driven interactions are about to become the norm.
Offline AI for Developers: Changes the Game Apple’s Foundation Models let devs build smart features without cloud costs. It’s a big win for privacy and performance.
AI Features Are the New User Standard: From Genmoji to Live Translation, AI-powered experiences are now expected. Apps that don’t adapt risk falling behind.
OpenAI’s open model is delayed
OpenAI’s release of its new open-weight AI model, initially expected in June 2025, has been delayed to later in the summer. CEO Sam Altman shared the update on X, citing unexpected progress by the research team that requires more time but promises a stronger result. The model is designed to rival other open reasoning models like DeepSeek’s R1 and aims to outperform them in reasoning capabilities.
The delay comes amid growing competition, with labs like Mistral and China’s Qwen releasing their own advanced models. OpenAI has reportedly explored adding features like cloud integration for complex queries, though it’s unclear if those will be included in the final version.
This open release is seen as a crucial step for OpenAI to regain trust with developers and researchers, especially after past criticism for not embracing open-source approaches. READ MORE

Match the soft fabric folds and plush detailing character sitting at a wooden desk in a colourful podcast studio with soft, curved walls in shades of purple and pink felt. The character is made entirely of knitted yarn and felt, with a soft, woolly texture and visible stitching. He has spiky black yarn hair and is wearing a black knitted T-shirt with embroidered SYNAPZE AI text. One hand is raised, making the peace sign, and the other rests near a miniature white toy keyboard. In front of him is a plush microphone on a soft boom arm. The background includes a toy sugar cane juice and a pet robot. Warm, handcrafted and detailed lush aesthetic.""
